The Book of Common Prayer lacks all before the final leaf of the Calendar. Bible text in two column black letter. With Apocrypha as issued. New Testament title page (1586) with woodcut architectural border featuring Lady Justice and Mercy, and a lion and dragon. Ends on colophon (n.d.). With Two Right Profitable and Fruitful Concordances by R[obert] F. H[errey] with printed title page (n.d.). Bound with The Whole Booke of Psalmes by Sternhold and Hopkins with printed title page (1584), lacks all after Psalm 145. First chapter woodcut initials, head- and tailpieces throughout.

Binding
Brown mottled calf. Covers paneled in gilt with rolls and corner fleurons around a centerpiece design. Spine with four raised bands, elaborate gilt tooling to compartments, and a red gilt-lined morocco label with the words “Holy Bible” and the date to foot. Marbled endpapers.
Condition
Lacks general title page; A1 repair to upper gutter costing a few lines of sidenotes on verso; 3A4 repaired to fore-edge margin; NT title repaired to lower margin; *4 repaired to lower margin; Kkk1 (Matthew 1-2) repair to lower half of the leaf with text loss; Kkk2, Nnn1 repaired to lower corner costing a few lines of text; Qqq1-5 repair to upper third of leaf with loss; Scribbles and notes to verso of NT title page; occasional spotting and soiling. Herbert describes this edition as printed on yellow paper, but this copy is clean, with a good impression, and the paper is white. A nice copy of an early sixteenth century English printing of the popular Geneva Bible.
