Description
Begins with an incomplete Book of Common Prayer, starts with the morning prayers. Lacks the general title page and one preliminary leaf. Text in two column black letter. Bound with the Apocrypha as issued. The New Testament title page (1613) with woodcut border comprising twenty-four small compartments showing the tents of the twelve tribes as well as the figures of the twelve apostles. Title is enclosed within a heart-shaped frame. Concludes with a dated colophon (1615). Bound with the Two Tables by R[obert] H[erry] and with The Whole Booke of Psalmes with printer’s device, lacks all after Psalm 119. Woodcut first chapter initials and decorated head- and tailpieces throughout.

Nineteenth century brown calf. Rebacked in modern brown calf with red morocco label and the words “Holy Bible” lettered in gilt. Corners repaired. Endpapers renewed.
Condition
E1,2 with red-ruled margins; B6 with rust or small burn hole costing a few letters; a few headlines trimmed; some soiling and occasional light damp staining; first and final leaves frayed to edges.
Provenance
Late 18th and early 19th-century genealogical entries and inscriptions of the Jones family of Morton, Wales to pastedowns. Note in front reads “This book was bound in 1809 in the 23d year of my age John Jones. John Jones is my name and Wales is my Nation. Morton is my dwelling place and Christ my Salvation. When I am ded [sic] and in my grave and all my bones are rotten I pray to God to remember me when I am quite forgotten.”
