Description
[Northern Netherlands: circa 1480]. Approx. 265 x 185 mm. (10.43 x 7.25 in). 25lines to the single column written in Latin in a large gothic bookhand. Mounted with the stamp below reading “Leaf from Dutch or Flemish Psalter 1480.”
The title of the book of Psalms from a Dutch Psalter. Richly decorated large initial ‘B’ in red and blue shapes, enclosing red penwork tessellated squares with mirrored sets of double leaves on pale green wash grounds, enclosed within foliate penwork with pale green dots The penwork extends along the length of the inner margin. Alternating red and blue one- and 2-line initials.
Condition
A few minor spots and stains, otherwise excellent condition.
