Description
General title page (1594) printed with headpiece and small woodcut of the Red Sea. Text in two column Roman font with the complete set of Geneva illustrations and maps. Printed title page to the Second Part before Psalms. With Apocrypha as issued. Printed New Testament title page (1593) with headpiece and printer’s device. Tomson’s New Testament. Ends on colophon (n.d.), and bound with an additional Book of Revelation with Junius’ notes and the Two Tables with colophon (1594). With The Booke of Psalmes by Sternhold and Hopkins without a title page and lacking the final leaf of Prayers, as common. First chapter woodcut initials, head- and tailpieces throughout.

Binding
Nineteenth century brown reverse calf. Boards rolled in blind and spine with recessed bands and a black gilt-lined morocco label and the words “Holy Bible” in gilt.
Condition
General title page stained with edges frayed and torn, with long tear to gutter margin; cropped to fore-edge, frequently touching a letter of sidenotes; Kk2 large tear with loss, Cc2-3, Hh6, Ii3, Bbb1 with small marginal loss; Aaa5 with small hole and loss to fore-edge costing a few letters; A1, K6, L4, N8 small hole costing a few letters; ink inscriptions to verso of Second Part title page showing through; Qq7 with ink inscriptions to verso; soiling, toning, and staining. A scarce Roman quarto Geneva Bible, one of only three such editions printed in the sixteenth century.
