Description

General title page (1605) with woodcut border comprising twenty-four small compartments showing the tents of the twelve tribes as well as the figures of the twelve apostles. Text in two column black letter type. Apocrypha included as issued. Similar New Testament title page (1605). Concludes with the Two Concordances with a printed title page (1605) and dated colophon (1605). Woodcut first chapter initials and decorated head and tailpieces throughout.

Collation

[par]^4, A-Z^8, Aa-Zz^8, Aaa-Xxx^8, Zzz^10. Complete with both title pages.

Binding

Bound in 19th century polished brown divinity calf. Boards paneled in blind with stamped center design. Spine with five raised bands and a red morocco label with the words “Holy Bible” lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers with armorial bookplate. Very lightly rubbed. All edges red. 

Condition

Final leaf of prelims with upper corner repair and loss of a few words of text; Y1,Lll7,Ooo3,Sss3 small lower corner marginal repair without loss; an exceptionally clean copy with wide margins throughout.
