Description

General title page (1608) with woodcut border comprising twenty-four small compartments showing the tents of the twelve tribes as well as the figures of the twelve apostles. Text in two column black letter type. Apocrypha included as issued. Similar New Testament title page (1608). Concludes with the Two Concordances with a printed title page (1608) and dated colophon (1608). Woodcut first chapter initials and decorated head and tailpieces throughout.

[par]^3, A-Z^8, Aa-Zz^8, Aaa-Xxx^8, Zzz^10. Complete with both title pages.

Binding

Rebound in brown morocco. Boards paneled in blind with blind-rolled border. Spine with four raised bands and blind tooling to compartments, a black gilt-lined label with the words “Holy Bible” in gilt and a date of 1608 in gilt to foot. Marbled endpapers.

Condition

Clean and bright with very infrequent staining and soiling; C8,H1,X4,Kkk3 lower corner marginal repairs; X6 lower corner marginal loss; Xx3 lower corner repair with loss to sidenotes; a few scribbles to Tables title page; a very attractive copy of a quarto Geneva Bible.
