Summary

A 1611 quarto Geneva Bible with the full set of Geneva illustrations and maps. This copy has the misprint in John 6:67 corrected. Recently rebound with the Book of Common Prayer and Metrical Psalter.

Description

Begins with the Book of Common Prayer. General title page (1610) with woodcut border comprising twenty-four small compartments showing the tents of the twelve tribes as well as the figures of the twelve apostles. Text in two column Roman font with the full set of Geneva illustrations and maps. Title to the Second Part (n.d.) with decorated head- and tailpiece. Apocrypha included as issued. Similar New Testament title page (1610). Concludes with the Two Tables and dated colophon (1611). Bound with The Whole Booke of Psalms with decorative title page (1610). Woodcut first chapter initials and decorated head and tailpieces throughout.

Binding

Rebound in 1934 in black calf by Welford Brothers. Double paneled blind border and corner fleurons. Spine with five blind-lined bands and one red morocco label with the words “Holy Bible” and “1610”. Endpapers renewed.

Condition

Book of Common Prayer begins with Collects, first two leaves frayed to edges and a few folded corners; &6 upper corner loss of sidenotes; &&8, Kkk7 closed tear to text without loss; Ddd3 lower marginal loss. Occasional marks and stains, but a clean text overall.
