Summary
A complete quarto King James Bible, printed just two years after the first edition. The Bible text is presented in two column Roman font with the She reading in Ruth 3:15.
Description
General title page (1613) engraved within a woodcut border comprising twenty-four compartments showing the tents of the twelve tribes as well as the figures of the twelve apostles. Title is enclosed within a heart-shaped frame. Text in two column Roman font, the text is presented within a printed border. Ruth 3:15 with “she went…” Lacks the Apocrypha, likely removed by a zealous Puritan. The NT title omits the words “Appointed …”. Concludes with colophon (1613) and tailpiece. Woodcut first chapter initials and head- and tailpieces.

A^8, A-Z^8, Aa-Zz^8, Aaa-Fff^8, Ggg^4 (Old Testament), Vvv-Zzz^8, [A]-[M]^8 (New Testament). Text complete with both title pages and prelims.
Binding
Late 18th century brown calf. Rebacked long ago retaining spine. Covers paneled in blind. Spine with three raised bands. Rubbed and worn with bumped corners.
Condition
Kk8 burn hole to outer column with loss of a few words; [I1] closed tear with lower loss to ruled border; [I2] open tear into upper inner column of text costing a few letters; bookplate of Michael Stoughton to front pastedown; occasional spotting and staining, but clean text with wide margins throughout.
