Description
Bound with the Book of Common Prayer lacking title page. General title page (n.d.) engraved by Payne with Moses and David, two angels at the tops, and the four evangelists and the Last Supper at the bottom. Text in two column black letter type. Apocrypha included as issued. Printed New Testament title page within border (1630) and with Alma Mater device. Woodcut first chapter initials and head- and tailpieces throughout. Bound with a Briefe Concordance with printed title page (1630) by Clement Cotton and The Whole Booke of Psalms with printed title page (1630).

Binding
Contemporary brown blind paneled calf, rebacked in matching calf. Spine with five raised bands and the words “Holy Bible” lettered in gilt. Beveled oak boards with four corner pieces and one central boss to each board, and with fully functioning clasps. Boards are very well preserved, with upper clasp expertly replaced at some time yet very well matched. Endpapers renewed.
Condition
Light toning and minor thumbsoiling in places; title page lightly toned. A very sound copy of a first quarto Cambridge KJV in an attractive period binding.

Later handwritten note on front endpaper. Early nineteenth century inscriptions of Eliza and Joshua Hartree to verso of NT title. Inscription of John Kirk (1690) to final leaf of Revelation.
