Description
Complete Book of Common Prayer with printed title page (1641). General title page (1641) with heart-shaped woodcut border featuring the tents of the 12 tribes and the 12 apostles, as well as the four evangelists. Text presented in two column Roman font. A small woodcut precedes Genesis 1 (Adam and Eve in Paradise), Psalms 1 (David playing harp), and Matthew 1 (four Evangelists with gospel symbols). Includes Apocrypha as issued. New Testament title page (1641) with similar woodcut design. Ends with The Whole Book of Psalms by Sternhold and Hopkins with title page (1641) within decorative border.

Binding
Contemporary dark brown polished calf. Recently neatly rebacked with original spine laid down. Spine split in middle. Covers with ornate gilt centerpiece design and intricate gilt tooling. Spine with elaborate gilt tooling. All edges gilt and gauffered featuring florets within a triangular pattern. New free endpapers.
Condition
Text is generally crisp and clean. Kkk1 with loss of a verso to lower outer column; outer margin of BCP title neatly strengthened; Psalter contains a small marginal wormhole throughout. Seventeenth century inscription on verso of New Testament title reading “Elizabeth Spoon Baptized 1690” with other family births recorded below, bleeding through onto New Testament title page.
