An Illustration of the New Testament, by Notes and Explications in Which the useful observations of former commentators are made use of; the writings of the most learned men upon it applied; and such new notes added, as greatly explain the true nature and spirit of the testament of our lord and saviour Jesus Christ.
Description
A scarce copy of an expansive 18th-century English commentary by Robert Goadby designed to accompany the biblical text with explanatory and devotional material. Arranged by book and chapter, it provides verse-by-verse notes, doctrinal reflections, practical applications, and extracts from earlier Protestant commentators, aiming to clarify difficult passages and illuminate historical context. Bound with 59 full-page plates including two maps and one double-page foldout. Most of the plates bear numbers, but the numbers do not appear to be related to their order or location. Bound with A Concordance to the Holy Scriptures.
