Begins with the Book of Common Prayer (1721) with printed title page, additional engraved title and engraved portrait of King George. General printed title page (1723) bound with two engraved titles of The Historical Part of the Holy Bible by John Sturt and The Holy Bible by Richard Ware. Bound with additional title page Sacred Geography Contained in Six Maps by Richard Ware, printed in red and black. Text in two column Roman font. Extra illustrated with over 75 full-page engraved plates, each composed of four narrative scenes. Apocrypha included as issued. Printed New Testament title page (1722). First chapter historical initials throughout. Ends with Downame’s Concordance.

A-Z^6, Aa-Zz^6, Aaa-Zzz^6, Aaaa-Ssss^6, Tttt^4. Complete with all titles and plates.

Binding

Rebound in brown calf. Covers paneled with blind rolls and gilt lines around a gilt centerpiece. Spine with five raised gilt-lined bands and gilt tooling to compartments. Marbled endpapers. Covers rubbed, especially to the lower rear board.

Condition

Occasional foxing and staining, mostly to margins; BCP engraved title laid down; A1 (Genesis 1) lower outer margin repaired with loss; three of the six maps torn with loss; Map of the Holy Land frayed to edges with closed tear; D3, R5, S6, Tt1 with closed tears into text.
