Engraved general title page (1670) with a red-ruled architectural border featuring an angel blowing a trumpet. Second title page reads “The History of the Old and New Testament in Cutts” (1671). Text and engraved plates ruled in red throughout in two column Roman font. Without Apocrypha, as issued. The Old Testament is extra-illustrated with 50 plates featuring composite narrative scenes. Printed New Testament title page (1671). The New Testament is extra illustrated with 110 full-page engravings. Bound with the Whole Booke of Psalms (1671) by Sternhold and Hopkins with printed title page and border.

A-Z^8, Aa-Zz^8, Aaa-Zzz^8, Aaaa-Kkkk^8. Complete with both title pages.
Binding
Rebacked and recornered red morocco. Covers with double gilt-paneled border and black onlays around a gilt centerpiece, adorned with drawer handle tools featuring tulips, acorns, flowers, roses, leafy sprays, and circles. Spine with four raised bands and gilt tooling to compartments. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt and gauffered with hearts, ovals, and circles. Rubbed and scuffed. The binding style is reminiscent of the Naval Binder - bindings that originate from this shop are known by their gilt-tooled onlaid corners and oval centers.
Condition
Ex-libris stamp of David Parsons to front free endpaper; title page frayed to edges; Mm2 trimmed to fore-edge margin; two plates with marginal loss; occasional spotting; a “Prayer of Prince Eugene” written in a neat contemporary hand to final two pages of endpapers.
